Alchemilla mollis
Clump-forming perennial suited for any moist to well-drained partly sunny area producing a mound of nine to eleven 6-12” tall stalked foliage with circular, scallop-edged, light green leaves (to 6” across). Rising above the foliage about 12-18” is a loose sprays of tiny, yellow-green star-shaped flowers that bloom practically all summer. Freely self-seeds in the garden. Tendency of leaves to retain moisture beads after a rain is considered to be a unique and attractive ornamental feature.

Plant Type: This is a herbaceous plant, it is a perennial which can reach 64cm in height (25inches). The stem is hairy and branches near the top forming several flower heads. The juice is milky.
Leaves: The leaves are alternate. Leaves can reach 13cm in length (5inches). Each narrow, firm leaf is entire.
Flowers: The flowers have 5 Regular Parts and are up to 1cm wide (0.4 inches). They are bright orange. Blooms first appear in early summer and continue into late summer. The corolla reflexed exposing the five erect hoods, the horn is small.
Fruit: A pod filled with tiny seeds each with a tuff of silky hairs which become airborne.Habitat: Dry open areas.

A later blooming species useful for extending the bloom season into late summer. Visions’ is a compact cultivar which features a foliage mound (to 9” tall) of bronze-green leaves and thick panicles of raspberry flowers on 12-15” tall stems in late spring to early summer.
