Acer palmatum 'Beni shichihenge' is a stunning deciduous shrub or small tree known for its variegated foliage. It thrives in zones 5-8 and prefers a sheltered location with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. The plant reaches a mature height of 8-12 feet, exhibiting a vibrant mix of pink, cream, and green leaf margins. During fall, it puts on a spectacular show with fiery red and orange hues. It has an elegant, upright growth habit with palmate leaves that create an attractive layered structure. This variety is moderately deer resistant and appreciates partial shade for optimal growth, though it can tolerate full sun if given adequate water. Its compact size and vivid foliage make it an excellent choice for small gardens and ornamental landscapes.
